Deep Thoughts

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. - Isaiah 55:8-9

Deep Thoughts
There was an old SNL skit called deep thoughts with Jack Handey. They were completely irreverent, moderately offensive, but also good for a laugh on occasion. One that I have held onto for a while is "Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes...that way you'll be a mile away from them and have their shoes." - Jack Handey

Besides giving me a good chuckle, I also liked them because they gave me a window into the mind of a comic. It's always amazing to me to see how comics put together jokes and find the punchline, because my mind doesn't work that way. I'm more analytical and logical, I struggle to see the humor in things. It's one of my blind spots. It's also a great reminder that I see things in a very limited way.

God sees the whole picture. His ways and his thoughts are so much greater, deeper, and wiser than I can even begin to wrap my head around. So when I get frustrated with how I see the world, I try to remind myself that God is in control and he knows what he's doing.

Praise be to God, the creator of everything, who tells the rivers where to run and the wind where to blow. The depth of his words will be my strength.
